Bodybuilders excited about competition

This will give locals a chance to become professional body builders.

Bodybuilders of KwaThema are excited about the opportunity to become professional in this sport.

BafanaGp Manake, Ekurhuleni chairman of Body Building SA (BBSA), says the excitement revolves around the Joe Weider’s Olympia Amateur competition to be held on Saturday and Sunday at Carnival City.

Bodybuilders and fitness athletes from many African countries will participate in this competition, which is hosted by BBSA Ekurhuleni and the organisation called International Fitness Body Building (IFBB).

This is a big opportunity for all South African bodybuilding fitness men and women to compete in modelling, fitness bikini and bodybuilding categories where the winners of each of the six categories will have the chance to become professionals.

The winner’s prize in each of these categories will be a year’s sponsorship to become a full-time bodybuilder and to participate against the best in the world.

The last time South Africans could participate in IFBB SA was in 1975.

Since then everybody who wanted to compete internationally in this competition had to go to Las Vegas

Although none of Manake’s club members from KwaThema will participate this year, there are six other bodybuilders, together with Manake, who have an international competition they can strive to win.

Manake says from next year there will be big events and five competitions under BBSA Ekurhuleni and IFBB.

He selected 15 youngsters from different schools in KwaThema to attend this event with him.
