Coaches in workshop

Over 30 football coaches took the time attending the coaches' training workshop to learn as much as they can.

The training was recently held at the Tsakane Stadium.

It was hosted by Premier soccer coaching and was facilitated by Ted Dumitru.

According to one of the workshop organisers, Votile Jack, the aim of the course was to uplift coaches’ knowledge and prepare them for the new modern trends of coaching, through the concept of maximal training.

Mbuso Mpungose who is also part of Premier soccer coaching, added that the workshop was also aimed at findings related to essential mental and physiological principles applied in a player’s development as well as in high performance football.

“It serves the important need for a most appropriate methodology to help increase the potential performance of players and enhance the standards of football,” said Mpungose.

Dumitru emphasised the importance of training the football brain as he believes that everything starts from the brain.

He said the coaches need to increase their work rate on this aspect as it needs to be nurtured for future footballers to play in the next games.

South African Football Coaches Association (SAFCA) president Gregory Mashilo also encouraged the coaches to take their rightful place within the society as football is losing direction because of the coaches who are not willing to take responsibility for the fitness and the readiness of the players.

Mashilo concluded by challenging the coaches to open the association at the local football association’s level so that they can start working towards improving the soccer technical issues within their communities.
