Wheelchair tennis players do well

The KwaThema Disabled Club's wheelchair tennis players have done well in the Soweto and Pretoria Opens

Thapelo Motsape and Simon Mbonani made KwaThema proud after they came home with three trophies that they won in the competition that took place from June 28 until July 6.

Thapelo managed to go through to the semi-finals when playing in the Soweto Open and continued to the finals in the Pretoria Open where he got the second position.

Simon was awarded a trophy after managing to proceed to the finals when playing in the wheelchair tennis doubles.

Their coach, Aubrey Mathibela, says he is very proud of their performance.

“If they continue playing the way that they do, they will soon be playing on an international level,” said a proud Mathibela.

He added that the club hopes to come back with an award from the Gauteng Sports Awards to be held today (Friday) at Monte Casino.
