Games to attract sponsors

The Tsakane Youth Development Programme held a mini soccer tournament

The Tsakane Youth Development Programme held a mini soccer tournament to attract more sponsors.

The tournament was held at Tsakane Mall on Saturday with the aim of attracting more sponsors for the shoes donation drive that the organisation has embarked on.

On the day, three soccer teams took part including the Amajita boys’ team, a team of young drug addicts who are ready to be admitted at the rehab centres.
Speaking on behalf of the youth development programme, Busi Maseko said the organisation does not only focus on helping drug addicts but they also help young learners from poor backgrounds.

“Our wish is to have more sponsors who will help us reach our goal of keeping children warm this winter,” said Maseko.

Solly Mnguni (23), one of the players who took part in the tournament explained the importance of education.

He said he could not refuse to take part in the event that was aimed at meeting the academic needs of the less fortunate learners.

“I understand that education is the key that will help change the poverty situation and bring hope to the disadvantaged families,” he said.

Solly also encouraged the youth to avoid the use of drugs and focus on building their future.
