New gear for U/15 soccer team

The taem was over the moon with excitement

The Bakerton Youngsters United received their first ever soccer boots and full gear.

Team manager Eugene Francis and coach Moses Molatudi handed out the green gear, black soccer boots and water bottles to the U/15 players.

Owner of CT Hydraulics in Germiston Michael Abbott said the donation is for a good cause.

“When we see the need we have to give a positive contribution,” he said.

Moses and the boys were deeply touched by Michael and his team’s contribution.

“We are grateful and this will give potential players more courage to give their best,” he said.

DA councillor Ramesh Sheodin also donated two soccer balls to the team.

Training started in January for these boys living in Bakerton and Gugulethu/Everest.

Moses added they are committed and highly motivated.

They played a friendly match against Payneville United on Saturday at Bakerton Stadium and won with 3 goals to 1.

It was their first match played in their new soccer kit and boots.

Coach Moses said the boys played the full game and look forward to the Masakhane Games at Welgedacht Stadium on Saturday.
