Members of KwaThema Shotokan Karate Dojo are working hard to ensure they perform well in the upcoming Masakhane games.

The boys, aged between eight and 14, had their morale boosted during their green, yellow and orange belt graduation last month.

Sensei Michael Cindi says they do traditional karate and will be taking part in the kumite (fighting) and kata (demonstration) on June 14 at the Masakhane games.

While the boys continue to practice hard, they will be travelling to Port Elizabeth next month to compete against the local clubs.

“We plan to use the PE championships as part of our preparation,” says the optimistic Michael.
