Lusitano FC wins against Early Birds

The game was not easy on Early Birds and Lusitano's players, but both teams gave it their best.

Playing on wet ground was not a great experience for the U/15 Lusitano and Early Birds’ players during their Springs Local Football Association (SLFA) game on Saturday, at KwaThema Sports Complex.

The game started with both teams fighting for a win, however, Lusitano seemed to be stronger on defence with its strikers knocking time and time again on the doors of the Early Birds, making their opponent’s goalie sweat.

With only about 20 minutes left before the end of the first half, Lusitano’s Sipho Dlela scored the first goal for his team. During the second half, Lusitano seemed to be more relaxed, giving Early Birds’ Thabang Mabote a chance to score an equalising goal.

Excitement among Early Birds’ supporters, who seemed to have lost hope in getting a goal, filled the sports complex.

The Birds’ excitement did not last long as Gugu Tshetlo of Lusitano put the ball behind the net, keeping his team in the lead. The Birds’ defence and attack, hoping for the second goal did not work for them. The whistle was blown to end the game with an overall score of 2-1.
