Thembi beats Sporo

Winning seems to be a difficult mountain to climb for the Tsamaya League teachers' team, Sporo FC, following their loss against Thembi All Stars on Sunday.

The game that saw the new kid on the block winning was played at Malandela Ground in Tsakane. This was one of the opening friendly games to prepare the players for the official start of the Tsamaya League games to start on February 9.

For Thembi, wining their first game of Tsamaya was an exciting way of introducing themselves to the teams and supporters of Tsamaya.

The ground was filled with supporters who came out in numbers to watch the games and confirm their unshakeable support to the players.

When the whistle was blown to start the game, one could notice that some of the players’ focus was not on the field while others seemed to have stopped their training a month ago. However, the game continued.

Both teams struggled to score until only four minutes were left to end the first half of the game when Thembi’s Doctor Zwane scored the first goal.

Because the time was over, the referee blew the whistle to end the first half with Thembi in the lead. During the first 20 minutes of the second half Thembi seemed to be in control of the game, following a goal from the team’s Peter Shabalala which he scored in the sixth minute of the second half.

Trying to save themselves from the worst humiliation by a new kid, Sporo turned the tables when they attacked and defended more.

Pulling up their socks worked for Sporo as the team’s player wearing jersey number three, Lebogang Lekubu, scored a goal for his team. The game ended with Thembi winning the game by 2-1.
