Qualify to become a coach

The Banyana-Banyana coach, Joseph Skheshe Mkhonza and Whitey Tshowa advise the local football associations' coaches to attend coaching courses.

Being born in KwaThema township and having played professional football, Mkhonza still remembers and wants to first help where he comes from.

Mkhonza and Tshowa, U/19 SAFA Transnet School of Excellence coach, attended a CAF A licence course, the highest coaching qualification in Africa, in November at SAFA house.

They both obtained the highest coaching certificate qualification and now qualify to coach any other national soccer team, not only in Africa but in the entire world.

Mkhonza says because they understand that many coaches in the townships do not have professional coaching skills, they are ready to do coaching workshops for them to take soccer in the township to a higher level.

Tshowa advises local coaches that one coach should only coach one team.

He believes that the coaching style for different age groups is different and that one needs to have professional expertise to successfully coach for the development of soccer.

All interested coaches, especially those from Kwatsaduza, are invited to a free coaching training workshop to be conducted by Tshowa and Mkhonza at Tlakula High School in KwaThema on Sunday between 9am and 11am. Tshowa says on the day they will be focusing on maintaining coaching and ensuring players’ strength and flexibility.
