Love yourself

We spend a lot of time trying to please other people in our lives.

We second-guess our choices and beliefs but don’t even think twice when the opinion leaders in our lives tell us what we should do.

The opinion leaders in our lives can be friends, parents, siblings, neighbours or pastors.

We want their approval and praise for things that concern us.

When they don’t approve or take note, we feel like failures.

We want them to take notice of the type of clothes we want to wear, the career path we want to follow, friends we can keep and cars we want to buy.

We turn a blind eye to our own wants.

We forget the most important person is ourselves.

Do we ever stop and ask ourselves what we want out of life, what we personally like and what makes us happy?

When was the last time we did anything that we loved without looking over our shoulders to check whether someone is watching?

When are we going to start living for ourselves and doing the things that make us happy?

I know that deep down there are things we know we excel in.

Don’t you think it is about time that we allow the self to come out and play and do what we want without any care in the world?

Take that first step and do it.

The worst that can happen is that you will fail, but that doesn’t mean that it is the end of world.

You will be doing what you love.

Stop putting yourself down and doubting your capabilities.

You can always give it another shot by retracing your steps.

We are all born to shine. You are too beautiful and intelligent to live in other people’s shadow.

Let your light shine brighter and let your voice be heard.

You are the best. Start believing it.

What the next person says about you shouldn’t matter.

After all, you are not responsible for their beliefs but for your own happiness.
