Tips for working through holiday fatigue

Kwatsaduza – It is officially that time of the year where fatigue sets in as the year draws to an end.

And though some people are preparing to go away on holiday, for others it remains work as usual.

So if you are thinking of how you are going to survive through working over the holiday season, as you are already tired but cannot take time off, this might help you.

You can start by ensuring that you eat healthy meals and snacks throughout the day.

Also ensure that you stay hydrated during this time as heat is sometimes your worst enemy.

Take up some exercises so that you can keep in shape and energised.

Avoid overdoing it with parties and shopping as this may require that you to stay out later than your normal time of being at home or going to bed.

Don’t overindulge in alcohol as it may make it harder for you to keep awake or even staying fresh at work the next day.

Make sure that you have enough rest, as the festive season is no excuse to deprive yourself of rest.

Invest in some good music and games that will help keep your brain active even though all you may be thinking of is just shutting down.

And even though this is normally difficult, especially over this period, try to avoid a lot of fizzy drinks and sugary foods as these may slow you down.

Do not stuff your face, especially at night just before going to bed, as this may make you more sleepy and make it even harder to wake up.

Make sure that you are always in comfortable clothing, especially when it comes to the shoes that you will spend most of your day in.

Try to move around whenever possible instead of being stuck in one position.

If you feel that you are in need of a break, do not deprive yourself as this may just help increase your energy levels.

Work on ways of making your work more interesting because if you are doing what you love, you have more chances of being more productive as you will be enjoying yourself more.

Draw strength from what makes you focus more and work harder and keep that same momentum throughout the holidays.

And if you will be going away on holiday, try to relax and settle back into your routine before jumping back into work mode at the beginning of the year.
