Nothing new about the New Year

Kwatsaduza - The year has started and we are getting back into the swing of things.

Some are still however trying to make sense of what it is they want to achieve this year. For me, the New Year is just a new month, it’s only the date that has changed.

People get the idea that a New Year automatically means new opportunities, new lifestyles or a new job simply because it gives you the sense that it is a fresh start.

Not so long ago my friends and I had so much to say about the New Year and what we were planning to do in this year.

The funniest thing is that no one is as enthusiastic about it at the moment.

I’m not sure whether it’s because what we planned seems farfetched or the fire has died out because we went back to reality.

Well, I think when the year draws to an end everyone just feels the need to justify their failures with “Next year will be my year and I will be doing this differently” and then it proves too hard when the New Year is upon us.

Change for me has nothing to do with the New Year; change can happen anytime, anywhere and any day when you want to change. Every single day is a fresh start for me and I don’t put a deadline on myself.

Personally the moment I set a time frame for myself, the more I procrastinate.

I made that mistake even this year and vowed that from the second of this month I will be going to gym diligently, and guess what?

I haven’t set my foot there since the year began.

This really proves my theory. In all honesty when you want to do something or better yet change something, you don’t like about yourself then just do it.

Don’t wait for the New Year or new month.

Like the wise say, time is of the essence.

So if you want to start a new business, a new lifestyle and do things differently, do it tomorrow because the New Year is just way too far.
