Personal beliefs go a long way

One would agree with me when I say our different beliefs can land us in very weird, tricky or messy situations.

Do not get me wrong, I respect everyone’s beliefs as much I want mine to be respected and protected.

But what do we do, as a community, when we see that there are people who are using get-rich-fast schemes in the name of religion?

Touring the many townships in the country, you will find that in addition to the churches which have been there since the early 1980’s, there are at least ten more new ones.

I am not exaggerating when I say that in some townships there are about five churches along the same street.

This makes me ask if God is really about to come back or is it just that people are trying to make a profit by using other people’s beliefs.

Even though I do not read the bible everyday, I do go to church on Sundays and I have heard pastors preaching to the congregation that when it’s time for the Lord to come back, there will be miracles in the world.

However, I never thought that one day I would hear or read stories about people eating grass, drinking petrol and eating snakes which they say tastes like chocolate.

I guess the levels of belief differ and depend on an individual’s choices.

A while ago, sick people visited a certain pastor’s church where he walked over them as a means of healing them.

I wish I could meet one person who has been healed by eating grass, drinking petrol, eating a snake or allowing someone to walk all over them.

People are desperate for good health and prosperity, but I guess some of us are looking for this in all the wrong places.
