Hijacked white Toyota Agya recovered at car wash in Kwa-Thema

No arrests had been made yet, but law enforcement would stop at nothing to bring the perpetrators to book.

Kwa-Thema – Members of the EMPD recovered a hijacked white Toyota Agya at a car wash on the corner of Mehlomakhulu and Wauchope streets in White City on Tuesday.

The officers received a tip-off about a suspicious vehicle, which was reported hijacked, at the car wash.

EMPD spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa said when the officers enquired about the ownership of the vehicle, the employees of the car wash said its owner dropped it off and asked that they wash it. They said the owner said he would return for it.

“The officers conducted a vehicle enquiry check and discovered it matched the description and was reported hijacked.

“The officers stood guard, hoping the vehicle would be collected, but no one came for it. Preliminarily reports discovered that the vehicle was hijacked from the owner the previous night in the Soweto area,” she added.

The Local Criminal Record Centre obtained fingerprints, and the vehicle was taken to the Aeroton Police yard for further processing.

Thepe said no arrests had been made yet, but law enforcement would stop at nothing to bring the perpetrators to book.
