Langaville – A 38-year-old man was arrested by members of the Germiston Flying Squad in possession of a stolen Isuzu bakkie along Mbeki Street on Thursday morning.
The car was reported stolen in Honeydew the previous night. The officers were patrolling in the area when they came across the bakkie with one occupant inside.
Germiston Flying Squad spokesperson Sergeant Ntombikayise Ngcobo said the officers signalled the driver to stop, but he jumped out and attempted to evade arrest.
“Police and members of the community who were around Mbeki Street chased the occupant on foot and he was apprehended.
“The suspect will appear in court soon,” she added.
