Different artists performed in Kwa-Thema

Gospel vs Piano concert took place at Kwa-Thema Stadium

Kwa-Thema –Xolani Promise Jwaga events (XPJ) and Citadel Production Group (CPG) had an all-white and shades Gospel vs Piano Concert on Saturday at Kwa-Thema Stadium.

Different artists were in the line-up including, but not limited to Kholeka Dubula, Big Zulu, Ayanda Ntanzi, Thina Zungu and one of the organisers, Xolani Jwaga.

Gospel artist Sbu Noah said, “I’m excited to be here. Xolani is a very good friend of mine and I know he’s been through a lot. To see him achieve this is such a great thing.

“He’s one of those when he said I’m having an event, I said I’ll be there, no questions asked.

“He’s a great person in ministry whom I’ve learnt a lot from but more than anything, I’m glad this day has come and it is such a great event.”

“To me, today is thanksgiving because for almost three years we were not doing anything, as we were at home.

“Some people were not able to make it and we were given another chance to recover in different things – financially, physically, mentally and emotionally. So we are here to say thank you to God,” said gospel artist Kholeka.

Kholeka said she never goes to the studio without God giving her a song.

“God gave me a gift of composing, therefore I wait upon him to give me a song. When alibuyi lilambatha came I knew that that is a song from God,” said Kholeka.

Local gospel artist Cinderella Ncamisile Nkosi said, “I noticed my talent when I was seven.

“I was even put in a worship team to sing with adults by those who noticed my talent. I haven’t released any single or album. I’m however working on something.

“Recently I was working with Zaza in Women in Chronicles, which was launched live on August 9 at Soweto theatre.”

Tebello Sukwene, a gospel artist said, “I’m invited to perform among other great gospel artists. I’m home as I was raised here in Kwa-Thema. It feels great being here.

“I love the sound, I love the crowd and the atmosphere is great. It reminds me of the time I used to come here to run.”

Sukwene released her first album in 2014.

Parris Shaker, marketing and production manager of CPG said, “The event was inspired by the festive season.”

“People have been through a lot. We wanted to create a space where people come together, praise God and let all problems out.

“We are also praying for the festive season and the new year.”

Xolani Jwaga of XPJ said, “We sing when happy, we sing when said, we sing in almost everything we do because music is therapy.

“We wanted to create a platform where everyone can celebrate and enjoy with family and friends. Covid left us with many scars, therefore, we are here to recover through music.”

Different genres of music such as house and piano were included to get people to let loose and have fun.

Jwaga said he would also like to thank the city’s sports, arts, culture and heritage division, as well as the Gauteng Department of Sports, Arts and Culture East Corridor for supporting the event.
