Hijacker sentenced to 75 years in prison
Mtambo was convicted of four counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances and three counts of kidnapping.
Tsakani- Mtambo Lindokuhle Ndondo (21) was sentenced to 75 years imprisonment by the Tsakani Magistrate’s Court last Thursday.
Mtambo was convicted of four counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances and three counts of kidnapping.
He was found guilty on nine counts and was not found guilty on two other counts.
He received a sentence for count one robbery with aggravating circumstances of 15 years imprisonment.
Count two for aggravating with aggravating circumstances he was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment.
For count three he got five years and 5 years imprisonment, count four 15 years imprisonment, count five years imprisonment, count six 15 years imprisonment and for count nine he was sentenced to five years imprisonment, which runs concurrently with the sentence on count one.
Tsakani police spokesperson Sergeant Lerato Mngomezulu said Mtambo was arrested on August 4, 2019 along Phoko Street, Ext 5 in Langaville.

He was stopped by the police working in the area when they noticed a suspicious car driving with the lights off.
They stopped the vehicle to search it and found the driver was driving alone. While police were busy searching him they heard a victim screaming in the boot.
Police instructed the driver to open the boot and found a man aged 35. He informed the police that he was hijacked a few hours ago at Ndabezitha Street, Tsakane.
The suspect was since arrested and the detective made sure that the bail was opposed and that he remained in custody until the final court day.
“Constable Gabriel Maphanga gathered the available evidence for a water-tight case against the suspect in court through hard work, commitment and quality investigation in making sure that the suspect is convicted in a number of hijacking cases to which he was linked,” he said.
