Soccer’s top dogs to clash

Kaizer Chiefs go head-to-head with Mamelodi Sundowns at the FNB Stadium on September 28 at 15:00.

The Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns fans anxiously head for battle over the weekend. Masandwana dominated the 2023/2024 season, but Amakhosi are seemingly back with a vengeance.

Chiefs thrashed Marumo Gallants 2-1 in the opening match of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season.

“Giovanni Solinas said it doesn’t matter how a team starts, but how they finish the season.

“Steve Komla said Rome was not built in a day. Arthur Zwane said he was something spectacular. And now Coach Nasreddine Nabi is finally here to dish up,” said Oliver Mphahlele, a Chiefs fan.

Mphahlele said he has confidence in Nabi and their formidable backline and predicts Chiefs will win 3-1.

“How can they even think they will score against us when we have not conceded any goals?

“Chiefs must come and watch Africa’s best team play. They must come and take notes. Their coach can’t dish up food that is not well cooked,” said Lamola Madimetja, a Sundowns supporter.

He said his team has a winning combination that remains unchanged.

“Chiefs need more than a miracle to beat us,” he added.

Madimetja thinks that Sundowns will beat Chiefs 3-0.

“We are one of the few teams in the league to score 12 goals in three games,” he said.
