Artist moves to his own beat

Atkin is currently working on a hip-hop single featuring Taury and Hyperbole.

Duduza – Kagiso Namane, known as Atkin Fleece, broke into the music industry in 2016 when he finally learned how to produce and make his own beats and songs.

“My dad has always been supportive and bought me a studio setup as a gift for passing at school. I then decided to focus a lot on production and as a result, I fell in love with it,” he said.

He said the first song he recorded was with his friend, Nhlakanipho Khwanazi, saying the song received positive feedback from the community of Duduza.

Namane adds that his inspiration comes from experiences and situations people face, citing that his drive and passion about being a producer is not only being able to vocally orchestrate words or feelings but to also work with melodies and keys that make audience understand what is being conveyed.

“I recall vividly that I was in primary school when I started using computer software called Atomix and later got polishing skills from Njabulo Ngwenya (a DJ) which helped me nourish my DJ skills.

“By then, a strong foundation had already been laid. I then went on and joined a church band and played piano in church as a way of getting more skills,” he said.

Namane has worked with Tasha HendrixX, Touchline and P-Doto on an album titled If I’m Really Being Honest.

He also produced a project titled Track 9 citing that it is a great piece of work which he is grateful to have featured on.

He further mentioned that he is currently working on an EP that he has not titled yet stating that it will be released soon.

“I am also currently working on my hip-hop single featuring Taury and Hyperbole titled Patterns. Patterns is surely something different, energetic and to be dropped on October 23.

“I will furthermore drop a great body of work on November 7 and it is going to be a project that consists of a variety of emotions yet relatable to each and every age group,” he added.

He said that he appreciates the process of being able to blend different elements and sounds, making them a great composition of creativity that goes beyond his own understanding.

He highlighted that over and beyond everything, he has gained a lot of knowledge along the way and his sound continues to evolve with time.

“I believe my craft is yet to make me travel. I slowly see progress as I collaborate with different artists from different countries,” he concluded.
