Kwa-Thema residents came out in number to take full advantage of free health services at the Barcelona grounds on Friday.

“We normally conduct HTS services but today we have brought more services to the people of Barcelona.

“We want to encourage them to be aware of the status of their health and know how to take care of themselves,” said Manana.

Peer educators from the Gauteng Health Department were present to teach the public about the correct use of condoms and other preventative measures.

Wits RHI, Simunye, SANCA, Right To Care and Gauteng Health were some of the organisations present.

SANCA representative Kamogelo Matsipe said he is glad that some of the residents approached him to ask for help.

“Many people are struggling with drugs and alcohol abuse, even the youth. Parents will often bring their children who need help. We will always look at ways to assist them,” he added.

The SANCA office in Kwa-Thema is located next to HH Ngakane Hall.
