Shimi-Boi aspires to work with big artists

Shimi-Boi's recent song reached over 100k views on TikTok.

Tsakani – Moshoeshoe “Shimi-Boi” Malinga is a music artist and producer whose journey in the industry officially started when his cousin introduced him to a program called Auto Mix. Malinga said he always loved music saying he wrote his first song in class when he was in high school.

“I started off as a house music DJ then slowly made the gentle transition to hip-hop when I began listening to Eminem.

“Music has always been something I was exposed to from a very young age. One of my late cousins used to play music the whole day from his radio and we would listen to it even in our sleep,” he said.

He added that the love he has for storytelling and poetry has played a huge role in him becoming the artist that he is today. He further mentioned that he looks up to artists such as Jay Z, Kanye West, Riky Rick and AKA.

“Even though some of these artists are no more, their legacy lives on,” he added.

Malinga has worked with numerous artists such as Senior Oat, Siya Shezi, Duncan, Rashid Kay, Kemy Chienda, Mgiftoz, DK and Lutro.

He dreams of working with Cici, K.O, Kwesta and Cassper Nyovest in the near future. Malinga recently released a song called Mofokeng featuring Dk and Mgiftoz SA.

“The song is currently trending on TikTok and we are looking to shoot a music video soon. It has gained over 100k views. I am currently fixed on growing Mofokeng but I have also been working on a series of other songs which I cannot give out much on yet,” he mentioned.

Malinga furthermore highlighted that he plans to soon release a song titled Ngifuna Wena with Duncan.

Moshoeshoe Malinga started off as a house music DJ.

“The song speaks about love affirmation but the release date is not yet set. We plan to keep our fans updated through our social platforms,” Malinga said.

He said that his vision is clear, and includes taking his work all the way to the top.

He also included that he draws inspiration from his surroundings and the people around him citing that his lyrics are drawn from his life story and journey.

“I always aim to heal and inspire as much as I can and that is the reason why every lyric I write has to have truth in it.

“My journey as an artist has shaped me in a positive way as a creative. My perspective is broader and open to different layers of how I view life. I am more humble to life experiences and events,” said Malinga.
