Learners excel in social sciences competition

The learners achieved good results for the school at the district-level Social Sciences Quiz and Olympiad.

Tsakani – Two Tsakane Primary School learners participated in the district-level Social Sciences Quiz and Olympiad competition at the Dalpark Teachers Centre on August 29.

They wrote tests based on social sciences content and had limited time to finish.

“Grade Five learner Samkelisiwe Mabuza placed first in quiz questions. This was the last phase level for Grade Five learners, so she will not proceed to the provincial level, but this means that out of all the schools in the Gauteng East Region, Mabuza is the champion,” said teacher Zilungile Dlamini.

She said the social sciences district official, Paul Mkhonto, awarded Mabuza a trophy.

She added that her Grade Six learner, Minenhle Mtsweni, earned second place and will compete at the provincial level on October 19.

“This is a great achievement for the school and the district. My learners and I had enough time to prepare for the competition this time. My learners have put me in the spotlight, and for that, I am grateful. I feel overwhelmed,” she added.
