Tsakani – Tsakani’s very own Katlego Mokholo (33), known on stage as DK, started making music after his father bought their first home computer.
“That is when I gained an interest to learn all about music and how it is made. I started producing my own songs.
“My first song was titled Good Times and was released in 2015. After the first song was released, I never looked back, I became an artist,” he said.
Mokholo refers to himself as a flexible artist who is creative in any genre as long as it inspires him.
He said that when he was growing up, his sisters used to sing every morning when doing house chores, adding they used to compete to see who could sing their favourite songs better.
“Even though I was too young to compete with them, watching them motivated me to take the music path. I wanted to make music.
“My sisters realised that I had an amazing voice at the age five. I even started singing in church, but I did not like it, so, I stopped because I was too shy to sing in front of other people,” he said.
Mokholo said he looks up to his older sister who is also an artist in the music industry.
He said that he recently produced a song for Shimi-boi featuring Mgiftoz SA titled Mofokeng.
“The song is doing amazing on all social platforms. It also reached over five thousand views on TikTok.
“That is an achievement for me under my name, and evidence that I can achieve good things if I continue to remain focused and hardworking,” cited Mokholo.
He mentioned that his vision is to one day open an affordable school for musicians, teaching them about music and production while giving insight about the business side of the industry.
He added that he will soon release four EPs, one titled I used to dream.
“The EPs will be inspirational, educational and entertaining. I hope all my fans will receive them well,” he said.
