Film summit uncovers hidden talents in Kwatsaduza

Children as young as eight attended the event.

Kwa-Thema – A successful entrepreneurship filming summit was hosted by writer, producer, filmmaker, actress and author Mpumi Solani, at Kwa-Thema Skills School on August 8. The event was also the launch of her book Becoming a Godly Woman.

Interviewed by coach Cathy, and joined by Lindiwe Kunene, the conversations led from unpacking the journey of pain, learning about forgiveness, and the healing process, and finally becoming authors.

Mpumi talked more about the creative initiative she has taken for the book From Victim to Victor to be filmed by a production film and cast from Kwatsaduza.

The community members of Kwa-Thema, Tsakani and Duduza came to showcase and resurface their hidden talents.

Children as young as eight, unemployed talented youth to the elderly, all with different gifts from singers, poets, actors, dancers and writers, came to audition and learn as much as they could about filming.

The workshop programme director Siyabonga Ndlozi, a writer for film and TV, invited giants and well-known thespians such as Daniel Hadebe (actor for film and TV), Nicho Ratau (TV channel owner), Tyron Hanyane (filming business), Ezekiel Joseph (filmmaker) in the film industry to educate, coach and teach how to treat film as a business.

Host of Women Become Film Summit, Mpumi Solani said, ‘’My intention with this project is to protect, support, and nurture the talent of the boy and girl child in our communities while still young.’’

She further encourages youngsters not to despise small beginnings as she urges them to participate and be a part of her filming project.

She is working on fulfilling a bigger vision of creating a Kwatsaduza creative theatre and a production film for this community.

Author Lindi Kunene also embraced the event with her godly presence, uplifted all the women and celebrated Women’s Day while launching her book, Becoming A Godly Woman.

The book, inspired by her life story, could enlighten both women and men about forgiveness, healing, teaching, and living the life of a godly woman.

“Women delight in another woman’s success and another person’s joy. You will receive your joys when the time is right as well,” said Lindi.

At the closing of the event, Solani shared her sentiments about how excited and humble she was by the support she has received from the community.

She also urged other artists to attend the upcoming filming workshops as they will continue until they build the Kwatsaduza creative theatre dream for this community.
