Super 16 move on from knock-outs

The knock-out stage started with 16 teams from Ekurhuleni, on August 9.

Thuso Mtsweni, sports and recreation art and culture ward committee member and director of TMS Events Management is hosting the second edition of Councillor Sibiya Super 16 Games.

“The purpose of the tournament is to embrace Women’s Month and acknowledge women who stood up in 1956 and marched to the Union Buildings for their recognition as women and to be treated equally,” explained Mtsweni.

The knock-out stage started with 16 teams from Ekurhuleni, on August 9.

Day 1, August 9:

  • Yoghurt FC 0-1 Mavikela Mbuso FC
  • Amazokozoko 0-2 The Great FC
  • Afri XI FC 3-0 Mswenko FC
  • Scorpion Kings FC 1-1 Izinyosi FC (Scorpion Kings won on penalties 4-3)

Day 2, August 10:

  • Umlilo 1 – 0 Movers
  • Atchaar Boys 0 – 0 Edlozini (Edlozini won on penalties 4 – 3)
  • Abazingeli Rovers 1 – 0 Amazababa

Day 3, August 11:

  • The Great FC 0 – 3 Scorpion Kings FC
  • Bazingeli Rovers 1 – 3 Mlilo
  • Afro XI 1 – 0 Amavikela Mbuso the game was abandoned due to darkness
  • Highlanders will face Hotspurs on Saturday at Malandela Ground.
