SAPS arrest man for kidnapping

Officers recently arrested a man in his 50s for allegedly kidnapping a woman’s grandson.

Tsakani – Local police officers recently arrested a well-known security company owner in Geluksdal.

A woman alleged that on August 2, a friend of her grandson’s came to her house to tell her her grandson had been kidnapped.

“She was allegedly told that a security company owner had kidnapped her grandson. He was threatened with a firearm, put into the boot of a car and driven away.

“The reason for kidnapping was alleged to be that someone reported to the company owner that the grandson robbed the owner of his cellphone,” said Captain Neldah Sekgobela, the Ekurhuleni district communications officer.

Sekgobela added that the security company owner, in his 50s, allegedly told the spectators that he would feed the victim to the wolves and they would never see him again.

“On August 4, the grandmother claims she went to the company owner to ask the whereabouts of her grandson, but he told her he had escaped and did not know his whereabouts.

“The grandmother then decided to open a kidnapping case with the Tsakane SAPS against the company owner. The man has since been arrested,” added Sekgobela.
