Generous foundation concludes its winter drive

The blankets donated to communities and charities by the Moti Cares Foundation have provided much-needed relief and comfort to vulnerable individuals and families.

Tsakani -The Moti Cares Foundation concluded its 20 000 Blanket Winter Drive by distributing its final 2 000 blankets and 2 000 loaves of bread in Tsakani on July 21.

Since the start of winter, the foundation dedicated itself to providing warmth and comfort to those in need across various communities.

The founder of Moti Cares, Zunaid Moti, opened the drive to South Africans through his social media pages, inviting them to nominate charities in need.

This inclusive approach attracted many deserving organisations and individuals and ensured a broad and impactful reach.

The first handover of blankets began on June 1, marking the start of winter as a heartwarming journey. The drive aimed to distribute 20 000 blankets.

It reached several underprivileged individuals and families, making a significant difference during the cold months.

“We are incredibly humbled by the support and generosity that made this drive possible. Providing warmth during winter is not just about sharing comfort; it is about showing care and compassion to our fellow humans. The smiles and gratitude we saw reaffirmed our commitment to helping those in need,” said Moti.

Moti expressed his gratitude and pride in the success of the drive, citing that it reached multiple regions, including the tornado-struck residents of KwaZulu-Natal, underprivileged white and black informal settlements in Langlaagte, Vrededorp, and Krugersdorp, to people in Soweto, Brakpan, and Tsakani.

Tsakani resident Talent Mkhonto (35) said he is grateful for the donations received from the foundation.

“Many young people are unemployed and often do not know where their next meal will come from. Such initiatives help the community in an impactful and meaningful way. The loaves of bread received will assist many disadvantaged individuals and families.

“The blankets will also provide relief and comfort to vulnerable people. The impact of this drive has brought hope and reassurance to our community,” Mkhonto said.

The foundation reaffirmed its dedication to empowering individuals, strengthening communities, and inspiring hope.

“On behalf of the foundation, I extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported this drive, from donors to volunteers, and communities who welcomed us wholeheartedly.

“We will continue our mission of social upliftment and community support and positively impact the lives of those in need wherever we can,” Moti concluded.
