Foundation donates food parcels to 60 families

Masimong Foundation donated food parcels to over 60 families to commemorate Mandela Day.

Kwa-Thema – Masimong Foundation touched the hearts of parents through its food parcel donation on July 19.

In honour of Mandela Day, the foundation brought together more than 60 parents at the Kwa-Thema Old Age Home to give them food hampers.

Sandi Teke and her husband, Mike Teke, established the foundation in 2018, intending to collaborate with communities to develop long-lasting projects that address social issues.

The Mandela Day programme began with a song and prayer followed by a speech by Sandi, who welcomed the guests, highlighting the significance of giving back.

“We asked teachers to list the learners they thought needed the food parcels. Some households are child-headed so we donated to them as well,” she said.

The food parcels consisted of essential foods such as cooking oil, maize meal, sugar, samp, canned food, and others.

The foundation also focuses on initiatives aimed at empowering the youth by promoting their education.

One parent, Mbali Jiyane, expressed her gratitude after receiving the food parcels and revealed the organisation helped her child in the past.

“When I got invited to come here, I did not realise this is the same organisation that has helped my child in the past and is now helping her siblings,” Jiyane revealed.
