Clash of the colleges

The day’s events also included netball, basketball, chess, table tennis, and volleyball.

Tsakani – The College Sport Arts and Culture SA Gauteng hosted their provincial league match day three at Tsakane Stadium on Saturday.

The visiting South West Gauteng Technical and Vocational Education and Training College’s ladies soccer team thrashed Ekurhuleni East College 8-0.

“We went to the field two players short, and our opponents took full advantage of it,” explained coach Phindile Zilindile, of EEC.

The teams had some paperwork issues which saw some players being called off the pitch.

A few other players were on the bench due to injuries.

“We were trailing 2-0 at halftime. I knew that my players were tired,” he added.

Zilindile said there is a lot of room for improvement.

“Congratulations to SWGC,” he concluded.

The coach of the winning team also thought that his team could have done much better.

“Everyone just came back from recess, and we only had one practice session since. I just felt like their minds were not in it.

“We would have had a better result if we trained five times before the match,” said Tshepo Mokoena, from SWGC.

The day’s events also included netball, basketball, chess, table tennis, and volleyball.
