The Fly-Mu festival, taking place at the Brakpan Airfield on July 27, celebrates five years of exhilarating entertainment, and combines aeroplanes, custom and classic cars and live music.
The masonic charity fundraiser is in aid of the Abraham Kriel Bambanani Benoni Satellite House, which homes girls aged four and 18. Other charities needing support will also benefit.
Fly-Mu, originally a combination of flying and music, is the brainchild of Fanie Bezuidenhout, who lost his life in an aeroplane crash at the Springs Airfield on October 14 last year.
As a Freemason and member of Edward H Croghan Lodge 247 of the Irish Constitution, Bezuidenhout’s benevolent heart led him to combine his passions for aviation, music and charity to launch an event for the benefit of the girls of the Abraham Kriel Bambanani Benoni Satellite House and other needy charities.
The home provides holistic care to girls who can benefit from family care to develop themselves and re-integrate them into society. They receive the appropriate educational opportunities to reach their full potential.
It is crucial to give them social skills, a network of friends in the local community, and support systems to help them after leaving the organisation.
The lodge also supports other societies that care for homeless people and senior citizens. The brethren of Edward H Croghan now continue Bezuidenhout’s legacy by presenting Fly-Mu.
This star on the events calendar promises to be a fantastic day out for the family and raise funds for worthy causes.
Visitors can expect to see aircraft, and classic and custom cars and enjoy live music. The craft market, bolstered by delicious food and craft beer and gin, guarantees there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
Other attractions will include new Suzuki and Volkswagen cars on display for discerning buyers. The fundraising will be via raffle ticket sales, with prizes like helicopter flights up for grabs.
The event will run from 09:00 till late. The entry fee is R50 per adult and R10 for children.
