Gusha’s memory shines on in tournament
“Our hearts cannot heal because we have so many unanswered questions.”
Kwa-Thema – Shine On Us hosted a netball tournament to honour Mbali Gusha’s memory on June 28 and 30.
“We want to raise awareness about Mbali’s case. How can a young person die and life goes on as if nothing happened?” asked coach Vusi Radinne.
Gusha’s lifeless body was found in an open veld in November 2023. The circumstances surrounding her death are unknown.
“We want to get justice for the family. We hope that one day, someone gets punished for her death. Our hearts cannot heal because we have so many unanswered questions,” he added.
Radinne believes the tournament could bring new leads to the investigation.
“Mbali was a talented sportsperson. She played in both the women’s and men’s teams. She has left a huge void in the club,” added coach Bob Mabena.
The tournament, which took place at Mehlomakhulu grounds, was won by Adventures of Duduza. They beat the Under Dogs from Tsakani 16-4.
