Coach – netball needs proper facilities

A coach raised concerns about the lack of netball training facilities in the community.

Tsakani – The local U15 netball teams played friendly games in Ext 15 on June 27. The first game between Leethuxolo and Rabbits ended in victory for the Rabbits, winning 19-11.

The Rabbits’ coach, Vusimuzi Masolo, said he organised the games to raise the players’ competitive spirits.

“I wanted them to play these games as practice for their next league games,” he said.

The Rabbits’ senior team won the finals played at Benoni Action Sports last Friday. The U15s will compete in the same league on Wednesday. Masola raised his concerns about the lack of sufficient netball training facilities.

“During the first quarter, you could see the players struggle to score goals because of how challenging playing on gravel is.

“This is why the community doesn’t take sports seriously. The lack of these facilities deprives these children of the opportunity to play on netball-friendly grounds,” he pointed out.

He also highlighted the need for netball kits and training equipment, stating that the local teams needed donations.

Overall, the event went well because the young players had a chance to reignite their competitive energy.
