Local artist finds his groove

Nkosana Thombeni also known as Nkosana art is an Afro-pop artist who is passionate about music.

Kwa-Thema – Ext 3 Marikana resident Nkosana Thombeni (18) broke into the music industry in 2021 when he fell in love with the Afro-pop genre.

Thombeni draws inspiration from SA singer Nomfundo Ngcobo, known professionally as Nomfundoh Moh.

“I was inspired by Moh when she released her song Phakade Lami in 2022.

“The song intrigued me and raised questions in my head. The genre sparked interest in me, and I then decided to make my mark in the industry as a contributing Afro-pop artist,” he said.

Thombeni has released a number of songs that have been made available on all music platforms.

He is working on his single titled Somandla will be released on July 20.

Thombeni added that the song carries a lot of love, emotions and joyfulness that will leave his fans longing for more.

“Somandla is an African song and a traditional song that talks about lobola negotiations and a traditional wedding.

“The song took me one day to record and the inspirational part of the song is that it can be played anywhere, during lobola negotiations, at a wedding, party or any social gathering,

“The inspirational part about it is that it talks about love, a universal language understood worldwide,” added Thombeni.

Thombeni cited that he is full of excitement and hopes that his fans will love the song because it is made to provide happiness to the listeners.
