Chillie Boys FC victorious in playoffs

Chillie Boys FC were crowned the Brakpan Local Football Association tournament playoff winners with a 4-2 win against Golden Boys Academy on Sunday.

Before reaching the playoffs, 12 teams from stream A and nine teams from stream B went head-to-head in the league.

The winner from stream A was Chillie Boys led by coach Simon Moloi. The winner of stream B was Golden Boys coached by Lloyiso Hlazo.

Chillie Boys’ winning streak began on June 22, at the start of the playoffs, when they won against Golden Boys.

The game was intense and the air was filled with anticipation as the community watched the game unfold.

They beat the Golden Boys 2-0.

Although Chillie Boys won the playoffs, both teams secured a spot to represent Brakpan at the South African Football Association Regional Playoffs in August.

Maria Makola, vice-chairperson of the association, congratulated both teams for their dedication and the winning team for their victory.

“Well done to Chillie Boys. The season was indeed tough, yet they have made it on top as Brakpan champions season 2023/2024 super league.”

“The two captains, Thabiso Makguba of Golden Boys and Percy Mhlanga from the red Chillie Boys, guided their teams every step of the way,” she added.
