Two suspects nabbed, narcotics seized

Two men arrested for possession of illegal substances.

EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit officers apprehended two men for possession and possible dealing in illicit substances in the Tsakani area.
EMPD spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa said officers conducted a sting operation on June 25 as part of curbing the number of drug-related cases throughout the CoE.
“With Youth Month coming to an end and many drug syndicates still destroying young people by selling illicit substances to them, officers made their presence felt when they cornered a 34 year-old man on Sam Street, with five Mandrax tablets valued at R200,” said Thepa.
Thepa added that while at the Extension 6 informal settlement, officers intercepted a 23-year old man, with five bags of crystal meth valued at R1 000.
“All the seized illicit substances were booked in at the Tsakane Police Station.
“The handcuffed twosome were marched to the station and the apprehended law breakers are expected to appear at the Tsakane Magistrate’s Court soon.
“The EMPD will stop at nothing to bring drug syndicates to book,” she added.
