Kwatsaduza retired nurses join International Nurses Day celebrations

Florence Nightingale, the founder of the Modern Nursing was born on the May 12 1820.

The Gauteng Retired Nurses Forum celebrated International Nurses Day in Spruitview, hosted by the Lutheran Church Christ the Redeemer.

International Nurses Day, which is observed annually on May 12, commemorates the vital role of nurses and observes the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the pioneer of modern nursing. Gauteng retired nurses, including those from Kwatsaduza, also celebrated Mother’s Day.

“What a day well spent wearing our white uniform and wearing the nurse’s caps especially created by retired nurses.

“The event was blessed by a guest speaker from DENOSA who gave us a detailed talk on the benefits of retired nurses as members.

“We were reminded that we are retired, not tired,” said retired sister Flo Tlagae.

The Wits University Mobile Clinic for Wellness and Medical Tests was present to encourage pensioners to keep track of their health.
