Leketi started his practice in Kwa-Thema in 1987.

Members of the community joined the staff of Dr Leketi and Associates to honour Dr Stanley Leketi on Monday morning. Leketi celebrated both his 65th birthday and 37 years in medical practice on April 7.

“Most of us have a home here because of you. You do so much for other people and sometimes nothing for yourself. We thank God that you allowed Him to use you.

“The impact you have in our lives is immeasurable,” said Dr Mpho Semele.

Leketi started his practice in Kwa-Thema in 1987. He was one of the youngest black doctors to have private rooms in ekasi at the time.

“The only challenge we had was we outgrew the space we had within three months of opening,” he joked.

The beloved doctor said the people of Kwa-Thema received him with warm hearts and open hands, and that is why he is committed to giving back to the community.

Leketi was also involved in establishing Thembelisha Clinic, which used to be a beer hall.

The philanthropist also had offices in Tsakani and the Springs CBD.

“I have been involved in several initiatives and also ministries. What has been special is my relationship with God in the community,” he explained.

Leketi has been educating church leaders and members about HIV/Aids for many years. He has also partnered with NPOs to help distribute ARVs to those who needed them the most.

“You cannot think about treating HIV without considering the nutritional needs of the patients.

“That is why we have also set up means for people to be fed before they take their medication,” he added.

Leketi hosts a morning prayer at the practice in Kwa-Thema every Monday.
