Tsakane residents set to enjoy Easter at soccer grounds

Sixteen teams will participate, but only one will get their hands on the R100 000 prize.

Tsakani – The On-On Tsakane Tournament launched at Sindane Park on March 21. The tournament will start on March 29, with the final match scheduled for April 1. The Malandela and Ext 5 soccer grounds will host the games.

“We formed the tournament to take children off the streets. We also focus on giving back to the community – we take care of the elderly in Tsakane, orphanages, and disadvantaged families by donating to them,” the chairperson of the On-On Tsakane Games, Dlozi Sibeko, said.

“It is my first time organising such a big tournament, and I’m looking forward to it,” he added.

“The community is reeling with many social issues, so during the tournament, we will have activities that address those issues,” said Parris Shaker, the tournament’s marketing manager.

Sixteen teams will participate in the tournament. The champions will win R100 000, and the runner-up R50 000.

Representatives from the various teams participated in a draw, randomly selecting a letter representing the group they fell under.

The group they picked determined the team they would play against.
