Intelligence leads to drug bust

Upon arrival, the officers found a man; and searched him and the premises.

Tsakani – A 36-year-old man has been arrested and R8 500 worth of narcotics seized on Thursday morning.

EMPD Eastern Region Task Team officers intercepted the man after receiving intelligence from a reliable source.

“The man was said to be selling illicit substances openly to members of the community.

“Officers immediately acted on the information received and proceeded to the address on Ndongeni Street,” explained Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa, spokesperson of the EMPD.

Upon arrival, the officers found a man; and searched him and the premises.

“On the man, they found a transparent bag with 85 plastic packets with a brown substance.

“The officers also found a black portable scale,” added Thepa.

The man was arrested.

He faces charges of possession and possible dealing with illicit substances. He will appear in the Tsakane Magistrate’s Court soon.
