Local fees to rise at ECD daycares

Creches will increase their fees for 2024.

Kwa-Thema – The Kwa-Thema and Langaville Early Childhood Development (ECD) Association will increase their fees for 2024 for all daycares under the association.

Chairperson of the organisation Mbali Ntshangase said, “We are increasing school fees because of the high cost of living crisis we are experiencing in the country.”

According to Ntshangase, the daycares struggle to meet the minimum wage standards for ECD practitioners.

“We want to improve the quality of education for all our children and provide well-balanced nutrition for all children in our centres,” she said.

Another reason cited was the increase in the cost of food. The daycares also need to refresh the paint and add educational materials and furniture for the children.

School fees will increase from R500 to R550.

New applicants’ registration will cost R200, while old applicants’ registration will cost R100.
