S Pt is a multi-talented artist who creates good music

Nxumalo took a few years' break from writing and recording songs after a burglary at a studio he and his friends used.

Kwa-Thema – A multi-talented artist Xolani Johaness Nxumalo (34) grew up in a musical home and township.

Author, composer and musician with the stage name S Pt is also a producer known as Oannes grew up listening to different genres of music.

“I create versatile music because I grew up listening to different music, from soul in the morning to kwaito during the day. My sisters played a lot of Rnb while radio and TV introduced us to other styles such as hip-hop,” he said.

Nxumalo said he fell in love with hip-hop listening to Amu (Ammunition) and other local and international artists such as Talib.

“I started writing poetry at the age of 12 and it was after I had turned 15 that I started writing music. This was after my friends and I met a local artist. We had a competition amongst ourselves on who could write better music,” he continued.

He said he was famous in his circle of friends as a poet and as a sketch artist. Nxumalo took a few years’ break from writing and recording songs after a burglary at a studio he and his friends used.

In 2012, he started recording and publishing music again. He collaborated with local artists and published two songs.

On August 21, 2021, Nxumalo recorded a song called Let You Walk My Mind Some Day which got local recognition and received airplay on EKFM.

As an independent artist, he promises to continue composing any style of music that he feels like, and music is also relevant to the people.

“I make music for good times, like love songs and music you can dance to and party to. I also make music that makes people think – termed conscious rap. I make Christian rap. I make music to get you in the mood to get up and get going; music that will motivate you to achieve your goals and at times my music tells my own life story and that of others,” he said.
