Driver crashes into pensioner’s bedroom while she is asleep
A racing motorist crashed into the pensioner’s room when she was asleep.
Kwa-Thema – Pensioner Lydia Moeketse (73) is lucky to be alive after a car crashed into her bedroom recently.
Security footage recorded the culprits racing their cars before crashing into her house.
A loud bang woke the sleeping pensioner, and when she opened her eyes, a cloud of dust covered her room, and she heard the car revving before speeding off. Moeketsi said she is still struggling with nightmares from that night.
“The wardrobe that the car crashed into spared my life. I wish they had stopped to check if anyone was injured and apologised,” she added.
Ward 78 Clr Sizwe Nhleko said after he received news of the incident, they approached the family to offer help.
“We identified that the house is occupied by a pensioner who cannot afford to fix the damages.
“We continued by approaching local businesses for donations in the form of building materials, and Springs Cash Build responded positively. After inspecting the damage, it donated four pallets of bricks,” he added.
Nhleko said they would demolish the pensioner’s bedroom and rebuild it.
“The room’s structure has many cracks, forcing us to demolish it,” he added.
The team pleads with local businesses to donate funds toward paying the builder, volunteers and other building materials.
