Man arrested for stealing copper from municipal offices

The suspect was caught inside the building by security guards on patrol, according to the Duduza Police spokesperson Sergeant Harry Manaka.

Duduza – A man (24) was arrested after being found in possession of copper cables and copper pipes stolen from the newly built Duduza municipal offices on Thursday.

Security guards were patrolling in the building when they caught the suspect.

Duduza Police spokesperson Sergeant Harry Manaka said the man was handed to police.

“Police also found his tools of choice for committing the theft, which included a bread knife, pliers and a screwdriver.

“He was charged with theft, possession of stolen property and damage to property,” he added.

The suspect appeared in the Heidelberg Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
