The group will also be engaging in physical exercises for the benefit of their health catering to retired nurses from Brakpan, Springs, Geluksdal and Nigel.

Duduza – A group of retired nurses decided to come together to support each other through the Kwatsaduza Retired Nurses Association.

It was launched on Wednesday at the Duduza Old Age Care Centre to support each other when there is a need, including during death, sickness and mostly when bed-ridden, health in totality spiritually, physically and socially.

The group will also be engaging in physical exercises for the benefit of their health catering for retired nurses from Brakpan, Springs, Geluksdal and Nigel.

One of the group founders, Khosi Flo Tlagae said after meeting with Tumi Molekwa and Joey Makoopo, who are also retired nurses, they decided to form the group to rebuild relations with other former nurses.

“During the first meeting, where over 40 retired nurses were in attendance, we decided to form the local association.

“Meeting with our peers will bring us happiness since some of us are now alone with our spouses having departed, children married and moved out, grandchildren at school and crèche,” she explained.

She added that the various activities will help keep the members active. The group will be meeting every second month and alternating the venues between Duduza Old Age, Kwa-Thema and Tsakane Old Age.

Tlagae added that the first executive will be elected in their next meeting which will be held on November 1.

All retired nurses, even those with physical disabilities, are invited to join the group.
