Simon Dube to release EP

Simon Dube to form a community choir.

Kwa-Thema – Born and raised in Kwa-Thema, artist Simon Jacob Dube prides himself on being an all-rounder in music.

Dube started singing back in school, in a choir in the 1990s at Nkumbulo Secondary School, and started producing gospel music in 1996.

He said he has produced a lot of songs in different genres including Zion gospel, kwaito and piano.

“I noticed my talent after matric and that’s when I ventured into music, working with great talents such as Mdu Masilela, Chicco Thwala, Lucky Dube, Condry Ziqubu and many more in studio,” he said.

He said he’s doing different genres as he doesn’t want to be boxed as an artist and wants to show versatility.

Dube studied music at Joburg Birnam College majoring in songwriting, music production and engineering.

His first production company was SD Music Production which he ran from 1996 to 2012 and changed its name in 2012 to Sai Music Production.

He’ll be starting a new choir for Kwatsaduza called Hope in Christ.

“I want to help new and upcoming artists to make it in the music industry,” he said.

“With my experience, I do music out of love and gospel still remains my favourite,” he continued.

Dube will be releasing an amapiano EP titled Thulanhliziyo, which is also the title of one of the tracks on the album, on Friday (October 6).

He said Thulanhliziyo will be played first on the day on EKFM and that he’s also in talks with Ikwekwezi FM and Jozi FM to play the song.

“This is an amapiano album which I am sure will knock Kwatsaduza residents off their feet. It’ll have songs to dance to this festive season,” he concluded.

Dube said artists looking for a producer may call him between 10:00 and 16:00, any day, on 071 002 7660.
