ANC rubbishes claims the party is behind service delivery mess

ANC chief whip in council in Ekurhuleni Jongizizwe Dlabathi said they are dismissing the allegations.

Kwatsaduza – The ANC Ekurhuleni has been accused of being involved in the unrest and service delivery sabotage in the metro in a bid to discredit their coalition partner, the EFF.

Concerned residents took to social media platforms alleging that the ANC is responsible for the vandalised substation that feeds the community of Dawn Park and the water supply in Tsakani along with surrounding areas.

Responding to the allegations, Ekurhuleni Chief whip of council Jongizizwe Dlabathi said they vehemently oppose the allegations.

“We equally dismiss with the strongest contempt the non-sensical allegation that the ANC is behind the cut on water service in Tsakane, which is yet another orchestrated lie.

“It should be noted that the ANC Caucus is responsible for the 70% of wards in the City of Ekurhuleni.

“This makes no logical sense that a party representing the majority of the wards would sabotage the provision of basic services,” said Dlabathi.

The chief whip added that the allegations are used to divert responsibility and accountability by those who are directly bestowed with the task of intervening as and when there are water and electricity challenges.

“We view these social media allegations as part of the continuing plot and attempts to unnecessarily draw the ANC into the mud and to associate it with failures.

“I have directed all ANC MMCs to interface with the Tsakane community, resulting in inspections on the progress towards the full restoration of water supply.

“As a result, Rand Water provided assurance that they are working hard to ensure full supply and that engineers are attending to the Xhosa reservoir which covers the high-lying areas,” he explained.

Dlabathi said that they are closely engaged in finding lasting solutions for the current and apparent water, electricity and sanitation crisis that is not only permeating in KwaTsaduza, but across the city.
