UHBAA wants to help beauty and hair businesses formalise their businesses

The training was about the right hair products, customer care, economy development and access.

Kwatsaduza – A founding member of the Uniting Hairdressers Beautician Association of Africa (UHBAA), Thandi Nkosi, is calling on all Kwatsaduza beauticians and hairdressers to unite and make people beautiful without having to compete.

“We have identified as the association that there are different types of hairdressers. Some were born with the talent and those who learnt the skill. However, all of them need to be trained,” Nkosi said.

She said they want hairdressers to become accredited after being formally trained.

“We organise the training for the hairdressers at no cost; they should not worry about having to pay,” she said.

The UHBAA attended the Gauteng Province Township Economic Development Hair Salon Workshop in Johannesburg on Monday.

The training was about the right hair products, customer care, economy development and access.

UHBAA’s objectives are:
• To help the hair and beauty community formalise their business through registration with the government bodies to maintain good governance,

• To help the salon business participate in the mainstream economy,

• To advocate leadership, education, trade tests and training for the hair and beauty business community through various government structures,

• To help advocate for the government to acknowledge and recognise hair and beauty and cosmetics as an industry of value and excellence that contribute towards the country’s GDP,

• To help the hair and beauty salon owners to run profitable and sustainable businesses and ensure that they create much-needed skilful jobs in the hair and beauty sector,
