Langaville – The body of Banele Khuphiso was found dumped in a trench between Tokyo and Langaville on Monday.

The 28-year-old went missing on Monday after he went job hunting in Dunnottar with two friends. He was found lying face down, wearing black and white track pants, a black and blue track top, and black and green Adidas sneakers.

The authorities were summoned to the scene, and the deceased was taken to the Springs Mortuary. The deceased’s brother, Zweli Khuphiso, said when his brother told him he was going job hunting with his friends, he was unsettled.

“Because of his desperation for employment, he convinced me he would return home safely. I grew concerned when it started to get dark and he was not home. His phone and WhatsApp messages went unanswered.

“The phone was later switched off, and no one knew what happened to him,” he said.

The family was shocked when called to identify a body found inside a trench, and it was Banele. Zweli said his brother was covered in bruises from an assault.

“We now wonder where he was kept all this time, the trauma he endured in the past week and what the kidnappers wanted from him. We demand justice for my brother. His killers cannot go unpunished,” he added.

Ekurhuleni district SAPS spokesperson Captain Nelda Sekgobela said they were investigating a case of murder.

“No one was arrested, so we call on anyone with information that might help the police determine the whereabouts of the suspects to come forward,” she added.
