Residents urged to update their electricity meter boxes

Outdated meter boxes a challenge.

Kwa-Thema – Kwa-Thema residents have started experiencing meter problems when loading voucher numbers.

A CoE statement dated July 6 stated that the token identifier rollover programme that the city is using to update the electricity meters will continue until November 24, 2024, and that tokens that were purchased but not utilised before the deadline will be rendered invalid.

“Members of the public are informed that to update when making the first purchase of electricity after the system settings, a client will receive a receipt with three tokens on it that need to be entered in the sequence as printed on the receipt. The update takes about two minutes to process,” said the city spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.

“I urge community members to take their prepaid meters to the Kwa-Thema CCC where they will be assisted with updates,” Dunjane said.

He said the residents should also try loading all the token numbers on the till slips after buying electricity in the sequence they appear.
