Three suspected drug dealers arrested in Kwa-Thema

The suspects were found in possession of drugs and money suspected to be proceeds of an illicit business.

Kwa-Thema – Members of the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit arrested three men for possession of and possible dealing in illicit substances on Wednesday.

EMPD spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa said the members received information from a concerned resident about individuals selling illicit substances.

“Officers proceeded to the identified location on Mlangeni Street in the Highlands section, where they cornered a 22-year-old suspect.

“He was found in possession of eight-and-a-half Mandrax tablets with an estimated value of R340 and R55 in cash.

“They then proceeded to Nyaweni Street in the Masimini section, where a 50-year-old suspect was found in possession of nine Mandrax tablets, with an estimated value of R800 and R65 in cash.

“Lastly, on Tsutsube Street in the Highlands section, a 29-year-old male was found in possession of a plastic bag full of cannabis, with an estimated value of R1 500, and R350 in cash,” she said.

The handcuffed trio were marched to the Kwa-Thema Police Station and charged with possession of and possible dealing in illicit substances.

They will soon appear in the Kwa-Thema Magistrate’s Court.
